Gold on Silver Juno Pendant
Silver pendant necklace with gold wire-wrapped detail.
Inspired by Juno, the queen of the Ancient Roman gods, this long pendant is the perfect accompaniment to the original Black and Sigi Immortal bangle. Made to represent Juno’s kind and protective nature in her role as the goddess for marriage and childbirth, this circular design is strengthened with three wrapped points to create a sleek and simple look – a really complimentary necklace that can bring a touch of glamour to elevate everything from jumpers to dresses.
Each necklace is completely unique and is handmade by the Black and Sigi team in their studio in Leigh on Sea. Because all of the pieces are handmade, they may vary slightly from the image shown.
The wire wrap technique can be traced back to 1446 BC when the process involved using flattened sheets of metal which were cut into strips and rolled into tubes. These days, the team at Black and Sigi have built their designs on affordable, contemporary costume jewellery using 9ct gold plate and 10% sterling silver filled copper wires for the main part of their designs. Because there is a slightly thicker plating on the silver, the prices are the same for both gold and silver options.
We believe in accessibility but never compromising on quality, style and design. Our wire wrapping technique, passed down from generation to generation, allows us to be creative and innovative, and even though we are self-taught, it doesn’t stop us from constantly experimenting, allowing us to keep this traditional skill modern and alive.
Although she is known for her various roles as a goddess protecting the Roman people, Juno is most famous for her role as the goddess of marriage and childbirth, and it is from here that we draw our inspiration for our range. We made the Juno to reflect her kind and protective nature and wanted to create a piece of jewellery that would carry a similar meaning throughout, which you could appreciate as a gift not only for yourself but all the mother figures in your life. Aptly named after our own mother!
